Los Angeles, January 2025 – The new fastest car in the world has been certified, destroying the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+’s previous 304 miles per hour record. The white 2017 Nissan Versa clocked an incredible 311 mph on the 10 freeway between Pomona and Claremont on Friday, January 12, at 3.30 pm. It was piloted by 23 year old Marcus Hunt while he was on the phone with his girlfriend.
“I knew it was fast,” he told us from his jail cell, “I pass all kinds of crazy cars every day, you know, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, dudes in loud Mustangs. They always get pissed off, but they don’t know the power of making the right mods and then just not giving a shit about your own or anyone else’s safety.”
Hunt knew he was onto something when his rear bumper was ripped off in a parking lot incident last year and suddenly his Versa was capable of a higher top speed and improve maneuverability, resulting in shaving off 30 seconds from his daily commute. Then following a puncture and running a compact spare tire for a month, he realized the base model Versa was capable of incredible things.
“That was the real turning point,” Hunt explained, “So me and the boys ripped out the back seats, put some extra dents in the fender and cracked the windscreen to see what happened. It just went faster and faster on the freeway.”
There were some extra preparations Hunt and his boys made for the speed run. The key was in removing the three remaining Summit Ultramax A/S 2.0 97W tires and replacing them with factory compact spares.
Despite facing felony counts of reckless driving, Hunt is resolute he can go even faster. He has certainly thrown down the gauntlet for the engineers at Bugatti and Koenigsegg.
